A founding member of GT Energy, Con McCarthy took over the role of chairman in December 2008. He has responsibility for shaping the strategic direction of the company, and building a strong board of directors to drive the overall vision. Con is the managing director of Sandymark Investments plc, Rathcoole Finance and Sandymark Construction. A former president of South Dublin Chamber of Commerce, he has also previously been a member of the South Dublin Enterprise Board.
Francis is a Managing Director of Turquoise International, a corporate finance and investment management company focusing on energy and the environment. Francis represents the Low Carbon Innovation Fund’s interest in GT Energy and has been a founder director of several venture companies including Controlled Power Technologies and CH4NGE. Francis has 15 years’ experience in a wide range of investment banking roles at Merrill Lynch, RBS and Close Brothers Corporate Finance.
Appointed to the board of GT Energy in March 2012, Niall is a portfolio manager and associate director of Investec Wealth & Investment. He has been responsible for Investec’s relationships with a number of companies in the renewable energy sector and directly led fundraising in the sector for c.€60m in equity in 2010/2011. A BComm graduate from University College Dublin, he is an ACCA qualified accountant and is also a Qualified Financial Advisor.
Dermot is a founding shareholder of GT Energy and sits on the board of directors of the company. Dermot is a director of Liffey Developments an Irish civil engineering company. With strong leadership skills, Dermot has established and maintained a professional, dedicated, skilled and experienced team at Liffey Developments. His role at Liffey has seen him involved in a number of major road and site infrastructure projects including the state of the art Greenogue Industrial Estate and the multi-award winning Fr. Collins Park.
A founding member and director at GT Energy, Padraig Hanly developed the concept of commercialising geothermal energy from deep geothermal resources. He oversees the internal operations of GT Energy, reports to the board of directors regularly, and is responsible for guiding the team in achieving its goals. Prior to founding GT Energy, Padraig gained a wealth of experience in the civil engineering and construction industries with Liffey Developments. He started his career onsite and progressed through the company as lead business development manager.
